Abstract: In this paper, we have developed a theory that describes the propagation of nonlinear helicon waves in a layered structure. The reductive perturbation method is used to derive the nonlinear-evolution equa tion. We have shown that this equation has a one-soliton solution and this solution has been derived. Periodic-boundary conditions have been used and expressions relating different quantities in different layers have been derived, thus indicating how a nonlinear-dispersion relation for a layered medium may be obtained.
